Virden 1916-to-2016 (100-year) Celebration

Shirleen & I travelled to Duncan on July 22nd, and stayed with Bruce & Merlene.  That first evening we went to Virden for a hot dog, corn, watermelon, etc. dinner [a part of the Virden 1916-to-2016 (100-year) celebration].  Here's what it looked like when we arrived.

 

Items of historic interest were on display inside the building.  Here's a photograph of a particularly interesting one.

On Saturday morning I got a nice picture from Bruce & Merlene's driveway (showing our car and a field of corn).
 



Then, it was back to Virden for a program (there was a breakfast earlier, but we did not go to that).  First, another view of the building (formerly an LDS church, now a community center for Virden).

In the afternoon Bruce & I went out to Jon's ranch.  Here are some photographs taken at one location on the ranch.

 

We headed back to Duncan, then Bruce & I went to a barbecue dinner back in Virden. It was followed by a dance inside the building.

 

 

  

On Sunday we attended church with the Virden Ward (that now meets in the stake center in Duncan).  Following the block of meetings there was a "Linger Longer" luncheon, and here is a photograph of that gathering.

 

 

Following this get-together it was time to head home to Mesa, but not before we got one last photograph, a view of Steeple Rock (as seen from the Duncan stake center parking lot).
