Easter Pageant 2017

Tuesday evening, April 11th, we went with Amy & Bryce and their four children to the Easter Pageant (in the area north of the Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors' Center).  Amy came by our house, picked us up, and we rode over in their van with her and the four children.  Bryce arrived separately and brought dinner from Chipotle.  We had dinner while seated on chairs out on the lawn.

Here are a couple of photographs that give an idea concerning the size of the audience (and remember that the pageant runs for nine days to accommodate the large number of people who attend).

One of the nice features of the pageant is that many of the actors come out to meet and greet the audience.  Photography is allowed during this time, so we took advantage of that!

Of course the production was very well done and was an uplifting spiritual event.  It was nice to enjoy it together as a family.  There are numerous scenes depicting biblical events, from Adam and Eve to the ascension of the resurrected Christ.  The enactment of the parable of the 10 virgins was a particularly powerful affirmation of the faith of those who are prepared for His Second Coming, and a voice of warning for those who may not be prepared when that day comes.  It was a wonderful way to prepare for Easter and reflect on the life and mission of the Savior Jesus Christ.
