Sunday, September 11th

Shirleen fell on the piano in our home -- a painful injury.

Tuesday, September 13th

Shirleen went to Janae for a massage to help with the discomfort of the fall that occurred on Sunday.

Saturday, September 17th

While Paul was substituting at the temple for another ordinance worker, Shirleen joined other ward members for a service project in memory of the 9/11 terrorist attack those many years ago.  The project involved cleaning up along one of the streets in our neighborhood.

Tuesday, September 20th

David and Lani came to town and joined Jim and the two of us at the Mesa Temple, where we were in an Endowment session together.  Irene was not feeling well, so she did not join us.  Later, we had lunch (much of it prepared by Lani) at our home.  David and Lani went over to Jim and Irene's home for a visit.  That evening David and Lani were back at our home, and they spent the night.

Lani does a craft known as quilling, a form of paper art.  Here's a photograph showing some of what she has created:

Wednesday, September 21st

David and Lani returned to Flagstaff.

We attended a Franklin Jr. High concert in the evening, which included the orchestra that Lizzie is a part of.

Friday, September 30th

Each year at about this time, except as interrupted by COVID, our friend Dev and his wife host a celebration in their home (they are Hindu, from India), and we have been invited a number of times.  The invitation this year was titled, Navarathiri Golu Manjal Kungumam*.  We understand these gatherings happen elsewhere as well, and there are those who go from home to home to see the decorations.  A buffet-style dinner is also served.  A lot of work goes into the decorations and the dinner each year, and guests come & go.  Here are some photos of this year's celebration (and please notice the beautiful saris the women are wearing):

Saturday and Sunday, October 1st and 2nd

These were important days for us, as the 5 sessions of the 192nd Semiannual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were broadcast throughout the world.  One particular announcement resonated with Paul especially:  Among the new temples that were announced is one for Tacoma, Washington, USA.  Paul's family was tracted out in Tacoma when he was a boy.  Eventually, both his parents and he and his brother were baptized as a result.
